A.J. Okrzesik

My name is Anthony Joseph Okrzesik, more known as A.J. I was born on November 23, 1989 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. I grew up in Alsip, a suburb of Chicago.

I have loved polkas ever since I was a baby. My family always went to polka functions and listened to polkas in the car all the time. While growing up, a few of my favorite bands were Eddie Blazonczyk’s Versatones, T.B.C., The Dynatones and the Chi-Town Express.  I have played drums ever since I can remember. My dad used to set up his drums so we could play to the stereo. While in fifth grade, I started playing trumpet. I chose trumpet because of my love for polka music. I also started playing guitar when I was 11. Besides polkas, I listen to heavy metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth and Iron Maiden. I have been in a couple "garage bands" before and played with FreezeDried for 3 years.  I also like pizza, Miller Lite and cuddling…but not all at once (that’s too messy).
